Antlos

THE AIRBNB OF CHARTER YACHTING

Antlos, quite simply wanted to become Airbnb of the seas. More than that they wanted to sell experiences, not just rent boats. Experiences that anyone could enjoy, anyone who would love to afford the luxury of a private boat with a skipper without breaking the bank. Something more subdued and relaxed than the booze fuelled rave party vibe offered by the excellent YachtWeek, which found success around the same time.

SHARED CHARTER YACHTING EXPERIENCES

Offering all in one yachting experiences in a P2P fashion its not an easy thing to accomplish. Many companies were competing in this space, and each was using a slightly different recipe. Business model, packaging, price structure, type and flexibility of the offer. Some of the biggest players were focusing on simple rental, but the margins are relatively low on that, and the experience itself is mostly in the hands of the customer. Again, Antlos wanted wants to sell experiences, future memories, not just rent boats. Something curated, where local skippers could take customers to the best locations, cook fresh food, and take them back to port while they are napping on the deck after a swim.

The result of this realisation is condensed in a set of interactive prototypes and concept designs. A new vision built around the simple idea of slotted charter cruise vacations (with Skipper) preferably offering all inclusive pricing and a general itinerary. Each listing a new unique experience that could be tailored to the customer by involving the skipper in the communication early on. With the possibility to add on additional services if available on board and on land, like driving to the marina from the hotel or airport.

Not something cheap per se, by any means, but sharing the experience with others would allow customers to spread the cost. Something much appreciated not only by customers, but also by the brokers of larger boats, which are often taking the sea with several empty cabins.
